The Board of Directors is composed of the following nine (9) members: President, President-elect, Treasurer, Secretary, Immediate Past President and four (4) At-large Representatives.
Each NFDA Board of Directors position has a unique description of duties and set of specific requirements and expectations:
NFDA President
The NFDA President serves for one year, immediately following one year of service as the President-elect, as the chief elected officer of the association. The President works in partnership with the Chief Executive Officer to achieve the organization’s mission.

NFDA Treasurer
The Treasurer of NFDA serves for one year on the Board of Directors and is responsible for all funds, securities, deeds and other assets belonging to NFDA, subject to any finance-related policies as may be imposed by the Board of Directors. The Treasurer is elected each year by plurality vote of NFDA firm and individual members.

NFDA Secretary
The Secretary of NFDA serves for one year on the Board of Directors and is responsible for recording and distributing minutes for all meetings of the Board of Directors. The Secretary performs such other duties as the corporate secretary of a corporation ordinarily assumed by custom and statute by secretaries of a corporation. The Secretary is elected each year by a plurality vote of the NFDA firm and individual members.

NFDA Immediate Past President
The Immediate Past President of NFDA serves for one year on the Board of Directors, immediately following one year of service as the President. The Immediate Past President draws upon his or her experience, wisdom, and knowledge of the association to promote unity of purpose among governing bodies and to help leaders make informed decisions.

NFDA At-large Representatives
Four At-large Representatives serve for two-year terms on the Board of Directors. At-large Representative terms of service are staggered to provide for two new representatives each year. Two At-large Representatives are elected by majority vote of the State Association Representatives each year. (The State Association Representatives are named per state by May 1st of each year.)
