The International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards (The Conference) is looking for funeral service professionals to help shape the National Board Exam by volunteering for the Item Writing Workshop. Applications to participate in the workshop are due April 17.
The Conference welcomes anyone who is a licensed funeral director and embalmer, has passed the NBE-Arts and NBE-Sciences and who is interested in volunteering their time to apply. No experience in exam development is required as training and mentorship is provided. Space is limited and participants will be chosen to represent the diversity of funeral service licensees across the country. Participation may also be recognized for continuing education within your state. If interested, please note the requirements below and proceed to the interest form.
Participating in the Item Writing Workshop gives valuable insights into the NBE including why the exam exists, why it is needed and how it ties to mortuary school curriculum.
Volunteer requirements:
- Licensed and in good standing as a funeral director and embalmer.
- Passed both the NBE-Arts and the NBE-Sciences.
- Have access to a computer, high-speed internet, and a working knowledge of technology.
- Sign a non-disclosure agreement that affirms your commitment to exam security.
- Disclose any participation in writing, administering, scoring, or maintaining any funeral service licensure exam.
