For Immediate Release: May 18, 2020
Brookfield, Wis. – The National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) will host its first live, virtual Cremation Certification Program June 9 and 10. Since its launch in September 2013, NFDA’s Cremation Certification Program has become the recognized certification standard for funeral service professionals.
“I am happy to be taking NFDA’s Cremation Certification Program online,” said NFDA Vice President of Cremation Services Mike Nicodemus. “This virtual program will enable those who planned to participate in a seminar that was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic to earn their certification. This program is also a great option for those who have not previously been able to travel to attend a seminar.”
The virtual Cremation Certification Program will replicate the in-person seminar experience and be led by Nicodemus over the course of two days. Instruction will take place from 9:30-11 a.m. CDT and 12-1:30 p.m. CDT on June 9 and 10 (an hour break is allotted from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. CDT). Like the in-person seminar, the virtual seminar will be interactive. Attendees will be able to ask questions and tap into Nicodemus’ vast experience, as well as chat with fellow participants.
This program offers a must-have certification for everyone offering cremation to the families they serve. Whether a participant currently owns or operates a crematory, is thinking of opening one, or wants to evaluate a third-party crematory, this training is necessary to reduce liability and increase family satisfaction.
“We cover everything that a funeral professional needs to know in order to safely and ethically provide cremation services to families,” said Nicodemus. “We help attendees understand best practices for safe, proper, and ethical crematory operations. Our program covers every topic that is required by law in states that require certification for crematory operators.”
Participants may register by June 3 online at www.nfda.org/events or by calling 800-228-6332. The registration fee includes the comprehensive Cremation Certification Program manual; seminar presentations; certification exam and scoring; CE processing; and certificate.
