For Immediate Release: July 12, 2019
Brookfield, Wis. – The National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) Policy Board met on July 12 in San Diego, Calif., and elected Linda Allan, CFSP of Allan & Ciuferi Funeral Home in Collinsville, Ill., and Daniel J. Ford, CFSP, CCSP, of Alderson-Ford Funeral Homes Inc., Cheshire, Conn., to serve as at-large representatives on the association's Board of Directors. They will begin two-year terms of service immediately following the 2019 NFDA International Convention & Expo in Chicago, Ill.
Coming from a funeral service family, Allan has dedicated herself to giving back to the profession by serving in leadership and volunteer roles in the Illinois Funeral Directors Association (IFDA) and NFDA. Her IFDA service culminated with two terms as president in 2010 and 2011. For the past seven years she has served on the NFDA Policy Board.
In her candidate statement, Allan said, “My term as President of the Illinois Funeral Directors Association came during a very tumultuous period for our organization. I learned the challenges of associations and that solutions are often difficult to come by. However, we must come together and work towards the common good. I am confident that I have the ability and knowledge to help lead our national association into the future.”
Ford also comes from a funeral service family and always knew he wanted to be part of the profession. Ford recognizes the importance of being engaged in his chosen profession and has served NFDA and the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association as a volunteer and leader in a number of ways. His service to the association in his home state culminated with his term as president in 2009. He is currently serving on the NFDA Policy Board.
“Throughout my many years in the funeral industry and owner of my funeral homes, I have always looked for what can be done differently, both to compliment and exceed the expectations of the changing consumer while maintaining the sustainability of our businesses,” Ford said in his candidate statement. “While keeping an ‘open mind’ to new concepts, trends and practices it is also important to re-educate ourselves and repeatedly re-invent ourselves.”
