If you ever have the opportunity to care for a former nurse who has died, the National Nurses Honor Guard Coalition can help pay tribute to him or her if a family requests it.
The coalition has local branches located throughout the country whose members attend the funeral or memorial service for former nurses who have died. They dress in traditional white uniforms, complete with cap and cape. They perform a short ceremony – similar to what occurs during military, police and firefighter funerals – to honor their colleague who has died. This service is offered at no charge.
